The US House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would remove the quota in high skilled working visa. This means that it would be faster and easier to deploy computer scientists, engineers and other foreign skilled workers and professionals.
The “House Resolution 3012” or the “Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act,” was approved after receiving a favorable vote from 389 US lawmakers.
This bill was sponsored by Republican Rep. of Califoirnia, Jason Chaffetz of California. It aims to promote family unity for legal immigrants who want to petition their relatives.
The new bill is expected to increase deployment of talented immigrants from India, Philippines, Chinaand other countries. The new law would also increase the quota for family green cards to 15% of a total of 226,000. Past quota is 7% of 226,000m thus would reduce backlogs for Filipino and Mexican immigrants.
