SSS Office in Jeddah’s Work Schedule for September

The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia announced that the Social Security System (SSS) office will be open on all Saturdays of September, 2016. SSS officers will assists overseas Filipino workers who would settle their past-due loans.

KSA King offers assistance to stranded OFWs

Overseas Filipino workers or OFWs will received support from the Ministry of Labor in Saudi Arabia as ordered by the king.

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III said King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia instructed the Ministry of Labor to give assistance to the more than 11,000 jobless OFWs affected by the crisis in Gulf states.

 

Among the support to be given are:

  • Waiver of immigration penalties due to expired working visas
  • Plane fares for OFWs returning to the Philippines
  • Food aid
  • Re-employment assistance for OFWs who wants to work in other companies
  • Legal assistance to money claims

PhilEmbassy in Riyadh close for Eid El-Fitr

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh posted in its website that they will be close on July 5-7, 2016 for the celebration of Eid El-Fitr of the Muslims in Saudi Arabia.

Overseas Filipino workers in the kingdom are advised to do transactions in the embassy when they return to regular working hours on July 10, 2016.

The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia announced that it will be closed for Consular, Assistance to Nationals and Labor services for OFWs from July 3 to 7, 2016 in celebration of Eid Al-Fitr.

Saudi imposes mid-day work ban for workers

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who works under the heat of the sun will benefit to the new memorandum issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

 

The Ministry announced that midday work under the sun will be banned between 12 pm and 3 pm.

 

Employers have been advised to make sure that workers will stay out of the sun for three hours for the next three months which will end on September 15.

 

But exceptions will be given for oil and gas workers and maintenance workers who do emergency duty. There will also be exemptions for outdoor work ban in some regions of the kingdom where there is low temperature.
