Tips for Overseas Jobseekers

Even if an overseas job opening is posted by POEA-licensed agencies, it does not guarantee that an applicant will not be charged with excessive fees. So be a wise jobseeker by knowing the legal process of overseas job application. You should also know your rights as an applicant. Here are some tips:

Not all applicants should undergo a medical exam. Only the applicants that are already selected from the employer will undergo a medical examination. As medical examination expires after 3 months, report agencies that are asking applicants to undergo a medical exam at the start of the application.

Do not pay for application forms. Application forms should not be paid for by the applicants. It is part of the agency’s services so it should be for free.

Request for an official receipt when paying placement fee. Make sure that you have a valid proof of payment when you give money to an agency.
