DOLE: 700 Slots Open for their Internship Program

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is inviting young Filipino college graduates to join the Government Internship Program (GIP) which aims to help and teach interns by personal experience on how work in the government.

Labor secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that about 700 slots are available for dynamic, young and talented candidates nationwide. Successful applicants will be deployed in different government agencies and will work for 3 months.

The DOLE-GIP provides three (3) month internship opportunity for college graduates who are pursuing a career in government particularly in fields related to the Department’s function.

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants should be FRESH graduates of school year 2011-2012;
  2. Applicants should be between ages of 18-25 years old; and
  3. Applicants should hold degrees in discipline considered relevant to the Department’s functions e.g economics, law, labor and industrial relations, political science, the social sciences and journalism.

Requirements:

  1. DOLE-GIP Application Form
  2. Resume
  3. T.O.R or Certification of Grades
  4. Diploma
  5. Certificate of training/s, if any
  6. Birth Certificate duly authenticated by NSO
  7. Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the dean or guidance counselor of the applicant’s school or university.

Conditions:

  1. Salary is 75% of the existing minimum wage applicable in the area where the agency is located.
  2. The length of internship should not exceed three (3) months and shall not be renewable.
  3. Personally submit your applications to the: HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICE, 5th Floor,DOLEBuilding, Intramuros,Manila or to the DOLE-Regional Offices and Attached Agencies

DOLE Warns Against Hiring of Seasonal Workers in Italy

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issues another warning against the recruitment of seasonal workers to Italy. The government agency issued the same warning in May of this year but felt the need to release another advisory after receiving a number of complaints from friends and family members of the victims of illegal recruitment to Italy. Recruitment of seasonal workers in Italy are only allowed in counties where Italy has signed special agreements.

Apparently, the illegal recruiters pretended to be legitimate middlemen and promise to help the unsuspecting individuals get seasonal jobs in Italy. Their ploy was able to collect almost €5,000.00 or Php 299,100 from each of the poor victims.
