More OFWs for Qatar

The Philippines and Qatar has signed a new recruitment protocol for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that would improve relationship of the two countries in terms of labor force.

Philippines Labor Undersecretary and Philippines Ambassador Isaias Begonia said that the new recruitment protocol will give assurance that there will be continuous deployment of OFWs in Qatar.

There are lots of Filipinos, professional or skilled workers, who are highly in-demand in Qatar. This includes engineers, architects, pipe-layers, masons, interior designers, computer-assisted design (cad) and computer and information technology-related professionals. Read more.

Europe and Middle East Still Wants to Hire OFWs

The economy of the USA is experiencing a financial crisis that had shaken the global economy. However as the whole world is worried about the possible negative effects of this crisis, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can be calm and still expect a happy Christmas this December.

During a press briefing in Malacañang, the secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Marianito Roque said, “The situation remains stable on the overseas employment front, and we do not expect any reduction in demand for overseas Filipinos especially in the Middle East.” Read more.

POEA Freezes Hiring of RP Nurses to UAE

report from Khaleej Times , a news website said that the a freeze order on the deployment of Filipino nurses to Unite Arab Emirates (UAE) General Authority for Health Services was issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) since September of this year. The said freeze order would remain until the court cases of 100 Filipino nurses are resolved in court.

The said order was released in connection with the court cases of 100 Filipino nurses working at Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi who were terminated after failing to pass a clinical assessment tests done in Abu Dhabi. Read more
