Alert Level 2 Raised in Egypt: Pinoys May Be Repatriated

Even after Egyptian President  Mohammed Morzi steps down from power, the security situation in Egypt continue to worsen, prompting the DFA Secretary, Albert del Rosario to raised the crisis alert level to two (2). The announcement is based on the advice of the Philippine Embassy in Cairo.

All Filipinos in Egypt are advised to avoid public places and to prepare for possible repatriation. The DFA also explains that under alert 2, deployment of newly-hired Filipino workers to Egypt will be suspended.  Returning OFWs will be allowed to go back but would be advised to be extra careful. Travel to Egypt at this time is also discouraged.

The Philippine Embassy in Cairo is available for assistance 24/7. Filipinos in Egypt may call the Embassy at (+202)2521-3062 / 3064 / 3065 and (+2012) 2743-6472. They may also send an email to cairo.pe@dfa.gov.ph.
