Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is also the presidential adviser on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) concerns are urging Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia to correct their status by submitting their passports to the Philippine Embassy. They should do this before the deadline set by the Saudi government which is on July 3.
According to Binay, the data from Philippine Embassy in Saudi as of June 8 showed that more than 10,000 Filipinos in Saudi are yet to submit their passports to correct their status.
Binay reminded the OFWs that failure to correct their status before the set deadline would take away one’s right to work in Saudi.
Binay said, “Our OFWs need to submit their passports immediately so our embassy could update their work status or process their papers for repatriation. They should grab this opportunity if they want to continue working there or come home to the Philippines.”
