Philhealth Plan to Increase OFW Contri: Agree?

Philhealth Corporation plans to increase the premium paymentof overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in 2013 by 100%.  The increase is proposed for the agency to accomplish their goal of “revolutionizing” the healthcare services in the country. Do you agree or disagree?

  • Burjegol

Anak ng tokwa!! OFW na naman nakita nyo gagatasan? Like us OFWs who are working in the oilfields, meron kami sariling medical health care by the company.

I am an OFW since 2010 and paid the required annual fees. Again I paid  the 2011 premiums when I took my annual vacation leave prior to my departure for UAE, as usual.

My 10 year old daughter got sick and was admitted while I was away last September 2011. The concerned hospital did not honor my pre-signed PHILHEALTH papers for the immediate application of the PHILHEALTH benefits. Instead the hospital required me to pay in full
the hospitalbills for 3 days of confinement, asserting that I should just claim the bebefits direct to PHILHEALTH Region VII Office.

To my surprise, PHILHEALTH had declined to pay my claim for a
presummably baseless reason, which quoted the Region VII Officer quoted forsome  exemptions of PHILHEALTH coverage, which I have
no idea of its existence. All I KNOW IS THAT MY DAUGHTER IS COVERED FOR HER MEDICAL NEEDS.

To add insult to my injury, I paid an increase annual premium of
PHILHEALTH fees last month [June] when I went for my second annual vacation leave, which is mandatory for getting OEC.

I hope Dr. Eduardo Banzon, can clarify this bad  experience I have had about claiming for PHILHEALTH coverage of a member’s registered dependent, so much so, that PHILHEALTH is planning to double the
    amount of OFW’s  PHILHEALTH  fees.

Please inform me if I still can push forward with my claims, even if the
Region VII staffs  have  denied processing it since September 2011.

Waiting for your reply hear Sir.Thank you in advance.

ito ang DR. BU-AYA SA PH GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR….

  • Joel_ventura1976

Please improved their services first….what is the point in increasing charges if they can not provide the quality services needed by the OFW?

  • Sabellanoedmund

OFW’s have their own health insurance in the specific countries that they are working such that they don’t need additional burden to pay. Dr. Banzon, am a doctor like you but working here abroad. The cost of medical insurance and all health services here are expensive and sometimes we have to do something in our own little ways to help as much as possible our kabayans when it comes to health. Salaries of OFW’s are the basis of categorizing their medical insurance such that most of the time they don’t belong to the category where all cases are treated without them paying an amount.

  • Ahlexan123

Pls. Upgrade muna the Phil Health’s benefits na magkaron ng OUT PATIENT discounts in ALL hosp. to all members and their families.

how SMART and INGENIOUS of u leaders of the philippines for only being able to think of ONE way to “revolutionize” the healthcare system of MY beloved country! and that is to RAISE dramatically the contributions of OFWs! lemme guess, u’ve already whacked ur brains out so hard so as to think of a way and u’ve only come up with one means! the RICH, the WEALTHY OFWs..how smart! how brilliant! bravo! sometimes i hope u would know how harder our lives are as OFWs! scumbags!

  • nrbe

indeed u don’t truly care for ur citizens! for if u do, u won’t put the financial burden to ur people and think instead of smart ways to allocate the existing national budget for healthcare..but of course u won’t be able to do that c0z it will be a threat to ur “kurakot” and instead of wounding ur pockets u would rather burden the hard-working, emotionally dispaired, financially drained and physically jaded OFWs..

  • nataraki

  • Jay

additional burden on the part of our OFW’s. Tamaan sana ng kidlat ang nagpasimuno nito. Walang hiya!

  • Pearllas77

Before you increase our contibutions Dr, Banson, include first in your mission list to have at least one exclusive hospital FREE for any medical transaction for us OFW’s especially for those who will just go for vacation. At least we fell tha,t its useful for what we are paying for.
Because if we are on vacation, one of our to–do–list was to undergo
general check up. but we cant just go to any hospital to have and gave us any discount or free medical check up….
We are welling to pay our obligation as Filipino citizen but how we hope you too ACCOMPLISH YOUR JOB.
    Thank you.
