Warning for OFWs who Want to Work in Egypt
The POEA Chief, Hans Leo Cacdac reminds all Filipino workers who wish to work in Egypt to make sure they have a valid work visa before heading to this European country for employment purposes. A report from the Philippine Embassy in Cairo said that the Passports, Emigration and Nationality Administration Office of Egypt now requires all entering foreigners with the purpose to obtain work to hold a valid working permit.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that a tourist or entry visa issued by the Egyptian Embassy in Manila or any country cannot be converted into work permit upon arrival in Egypt. This new policy is intended to control human trafficking in Egypt. It is also expected to limit the number of tourist workers in Egypt and protect the jobs of Egyptian nationals.
