The US Embassy Manila announced through its Facebook page that its main office and affiliated offices will be closed on Friday, December 30, 2011 in observance of Rizal Day, a Philippine holiday and on January 2, 2012, in observance of New Year’s Day. The Embassy and its affiliated agencies will resume regular services on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

The Philippine Embassy inJapanannounced on its official website that its office will be closed from December 29 to January 3, and on January 9.
There will be no office on December 29, January 2 and 3 because those dates are Japanese Holidays while December 30 is a Rizal day, a Philippine holiday.
Meanwhile, January 9 is “Coming of Age Day” inJapan-an event for all Japanese turning twenty years old on that year. It is considered the start of adult age and earns them the right to legally vote, drink and smoke. This event is celebrated every 2nd week of January.
