Protect Yourself from Jobs Offered thru Email

Posted by: admin

I am reposting this because recently there have been many inquiries about job offers that are being sent via email.

If you receive an overseas job offer via email, beware. Email scams are proliferating offering high paying jobs to overseas multinational companies. Here is how to detect an email scam:

  1. You will be told that they found your resume through a job bank.
  2. The company will require you to undergo a seminar/training fee.
  3. You will be tasked to pay a reservation fee, OWWA membership and other taxes.

Once you have paid the amount, the person will simply disappear without communication.

To protect yourself from these types of frauds, check and verify the existence of the company and call up the person who sent you the email using the office number of the company.

  2. liz Said,

An email from this sender almost got me. His approach is a bit different from others that you can easily identify that its fraud, hoax etc. What he will do is send you a letter that you’ve been selected exclusively for their job offer etc. plus an attached document of the actual letter of invitation for job employment then a request of your CV for them to be able to assess and evaluate if you will qualify with their requirements. Then after a day or two he will reply saying while your CV is being evaluated you will be requested to fill out all your details, interests, job experience in a form of application form with an attached complete list of positions, expected salary, qualifications etc. You wont think that its fraud because of the email address that they’ve used originally (Corporate email address) however, on their third reply you wont gonna notice that its address have already changed to a personal gmail or ymail because when it shows in your inbox from list it will show company’s name. Plus the email message also contains email address and a number to contact. Once you sent out that application form next that they will ask you is to answer is a questionnaire which is consists of 50 set of questions. You will answer them in a essay form. After 2-3 days they will let you know that you’ve been qualified and passed their assessment then will ask you to send requirements/documents…2×2, whole body picture, school transcripts, certificates, clearances, passport, birth certificate, once you completed that. They will send you the actual job offer document that you need to sign consisting of list of benefits, salary information. Job responsibilities. Something like job contract itself. NO employment or processing fee have ever been mentioned.
But then there I stopped and do a research as my sister reminded me to check again the internet if its safe and if its a real job offer there I found this email address listed on so numerous fraud senders doing such deed. There I responded with that list and after that he stopped emailing. I was thinking maybe if I sent back that signed contract then that’s the time he will ask for a processing fee.
