Fast Recovery of Taiwan Gives Opportunity Again to OFWs

Good news keeps on pouring for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Taiwan as the country’s fast recovery from the global crisis gives another opportunity to the Fililipino workers.

Philippine labor attaché Reydeluz D. Conferido of the Manila Economical and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan revealed that at least 40 percent of the 5,000 displaced Filipino workers in the country at the height of the global crisis last year are now back to work and prospects for deployment are getting better following a positive outlook for this export-oriented economy.

Top Earning Jobs Available for OFWs in Macau!

Job Opportunities for Filipino workers in Macau is still high though the city suffered its lowest point last year due to recession, Macau managed to bounce back. The demand for foreign workers especially OFWs also increase especially this coming holiday where thousands of tourists are expected to visit to spend Christmas and New Year.

According to a survey conducted by MacauHR, one of Macau’s leading recruitment firm, expatriates or foreign workers earned more than Macau’s local citizens. Engineers, accountants, bankers and IT specialists were noted as one of the highest paid jobs in Macau.

Online Registration for EPS-KLT and JPEPA Applicants

Applicants for EPS-KLT and JPEPA are required to register online at http://www.eregister.poea.gov.ph/ereg/ereg. EPS-KLT applicants can only be allowed to pay for the language test after registration. Nurses and caregivers should wait for further instruction from POEA.

EPS-Korea Language Exam To Start Early Next Year

Filipino workers who would like to work in Korea or apply through the EPS program should start preparing for next year’s examination. The POEA administrator Jennifer Jardin-Manalili announced that the POEA and Human Resources Development Service (HRD Korea) finally signed the Service Commitment Agreement (SCA) last December 3 which covers the new EPS-KLT under the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between Department of labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Ministry of Labor (MOL) Korea.

Green Passport Is Valid Until Date of Expiry

Do not believe emails and articles on the net urging you to renew your green passport before 2010. The said article is said to come from the travel agency division of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).Below is an example of the email they send:

Subject: Renew your Green Passport before 2010!

Please be advised that effective January 2010, the green colored Philippine passport will no longer be accepted even if it is still valid. Below are the list of new requirement for the application and renewal of Philippine passport.

The advisory from the DFA deny the truth to the above email. Here’s the true advisory that can be found on the DFA website:

If you are a holder of the manual or green passport, you can still use your passport for travel abroad. All manual or green passports issued before April 01 2010 will remain valid until the stated date of expiry and are acceptable for use abroad
