The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) rejected the proposed mandatory liability insurance for all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) instead let them decide whether they would avail the insurance or not.
The insurance shall be used to pay money claims or damages given to workers if a case I decided by or settled before the National Labor Relations Commissions.
The POEA deputy administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said that imposing the additional insurance mandatory would only cause additional burden to OFWs since they have other fees to be settled.
