DFA To Start Issuing E-Passports on August 26

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that they are now ready to issue e-passports. The DFA informed that they will start processing application for e-passports via the online appointment system on August 26. At the onset, numbers of e-passport to be issued is limited to 100 ePassports a day and they will use a first-come-first-serve basis.

Also from August 26 to September 30, they will only entertain those applying for passport renewal. Those who want to apply should visit the website of DFA- and submit an online appointment application.

UK Does Not Allow Entry of Filipino Seamen With Transit Visas

The United Kingdom’s Border Agency recently announced that Filipino seafarers who have been issued transit visas are not allowed to work in the UK fishing industry. The UK transit visas are basically temporary visas for non-European Union seafarers, including Filipinos joining vessels in the UK which are bound for foreign ports or traveling international waters for a longer period.

9th Metro Job Fair 2009

OFWs in Middle East Can Take Board Exams in Host County

The Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that they will go to different cities in the Gulf States where there are many Filipino workers to conduct special licensure examinations. This news will surely benefit many Filipinos in the Middle East that are employed as accountants, architects and engineers.

The PRC special examinations will be held in the city of Al Khobar and Jeddah on the following dates: November 26, 27 and 28, 2009. The next schedule will happen on in Doha, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on December 2, 3 and 4, 2009. Applications must be submitted to the professional organizations on or before September 30, 2009 for transmittal to PRC- Manila on or before October 9, 2009.
