There is good news for the distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Libya as the Department of Labor and Employemnt (DOLE) announced that five companies in Libya have expressed their intention to absorb them. The five companies in Libya that offered employment to the OFWs are the following: Al Furusiya, United Engineering Company, Al Oula Company, Amal Africa Catering Company, and Al Taqaniya Al Handasia Al Hadeetha. The said firms will give new jobs to 93 distressed OFWs. According to Mustafa, 29 of the 131 OFWs have decided to go back to the Philippines for good. Read more.

To increase the number of registrants for the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV), the Commission on Elections and the Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform Filipinos working and living abroad that there will be special mobile and field registrations. Some of the enlistment schedules are sponsored by organizations of Filipino communities abroad.

Filipinos who wants to study in the United Kingdom (UK) and experience its unique learning environment now has a chance to do it for free. The British Embassy in Manila announced that they are now accepting applications for the Chevening Scholarship Programme, an esteemed award given to deserving foreigners.
The Chevening Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2010/2011 for the Philippines, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau begins 1 August. All applications are done on-line and must be submitted before 15 October 2009. Read more.
