Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are vulnerable to sickness while working in a foreign land so a medical assistance will surely be a great benefit for them. The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) aims to address the health needs of Filipino workers in Hong Kong by sending regular representative missions that will attend to Philhealth concerns of OFWs there.
According to an article that appeared in the website of the DFA, “The PhilHealth official, who will be in Hong Kong for two weeks every quarter, will perform her duties for the first time on 03-16 August.”
An open forum and presentation will also be organized by PhilHealth staff and officials of the Philippine Embassy there on August 2, Sunday at around 2 pm at the Bayanihan Center in Kennedy Town. Read more.

There is no doubt that America still lacks local resident to fill up positions for their healthcare facilities. For this reason, recruitment of foreign health workers in America is set to continue until the year 2014. The fact that majority of the US populations nowadays are aging and increase in the number of retiring health workers made this necessary.
According to a recruitment consultant who works for Federated Association of Manpower Exporters (FAME), Emmanuel Geslani, an estimate of 1.2 million nurses will be hired in the United States until 2014. Read more.

Filipino nurses and other healthcare professionals who want to work overseas can now add Guam as one of their possible country of destinations. Emmanuel Geslani, a recruitment consultant said that aside from workers in the construction sector, Guam also needs to hire health workers. The transfer of a military base from Okinawa Japan to Guam makes the massive recruitment of foreign workers to Guam necessary.
While the recruitment for Filipino construction workers to Guamwill start next year, the hiring for healthcare workers is set to start three years from now. That would be in 2012 when the military base relocation is already completed. Healthcare workers have plenty of time to be ready and qualified for the job opportunities

There are 32,617 new licensed nurses in the Philippines as the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) announced the list of successful examines of the licensure examination held last June 6 to 7.
The result was released 46 days after the examination and this represents a passing rate of 41.87%. The topnotcher for this batch is Golda Manto Yap who got an average score of 86.80%.
