Singapore and Macau Need RP Workers

Filipinos are known for being hospitable, making them the ideal candidate for jobs that entail customer service. This is probably the reason why the hospitality industry of two countries, Singapore and Macau wants to recruit OFWs. An executive from Singapore said that hotels and resorts in the said countries have up to 370,000 job vacancies and most of the companies wish to hire OFWs. Read more.

Korea May Soon Hire Filipino English Teachers

There is a demand for English teachers in South Korea and they may soon hire OFWs. The possibility of Filipino teachers entering into the Korean market was the result of the recent meeting of Luiz Cruz, Philippine Ambassador to South Korea and Commissioner Choo Kyu-ho of the Korea Immigration Office. Belgium May Hire 3000 RP Nurses

A former labor ambassador of the Philippines in Belgium, Ciriaco Lagunzad III, informed that the European country is in need of nurses specifically those with expertise in geriatrics and pediatrics. For the Filipino nurses to benefit from this opportunity, the Philippine government is aiming for a bilateral labor agreement with Belgium. The labor pact is expected to create jobs for 3000 Filipino nurses. Read more.

12,000 OFWs Needed in Saskatchewan, Canada

Massive recruitment for foreign workers is currently underway in Canada specifically in the province of Saskatchewan. With a prosperous economy and a government that welcomes the arrival of migrants, an estimated 5,000 to 12,000 job opportunities awaits qualified OFWs in the next 5 years.

Rob Norris, Saskatchewan’s Minister for Immigration, Advanced Education and Employment who recently visited the Philippines for a week-long recruitment mission said, “It is a time of tremendous optimism and opportunity for Saskatchewan. We are hoping to sustain this economic development and growth, not just for growths sake but for the improvement of the lives of our people.” Read more.

Launching of OFW Pangarap Madness in Cagayan de Oro

The city government of Cagayan de Oro and Eventi Grandi, in partnership with OWWA and BPI Savings Bank, invite all OFWs and their dependents to the launching of the OFW Pangarap Madness (OPM 2008) to be held at SM Activity Center on July 16-20, 2008.

This five-day activity aims to help OFWs and their dependents through business entrepreneurship development.

One of the highlights of the activity is a seminar and workshop focusing on business and entrepreneurship, SME forum, livelihood development workshop, business entrepreneurship and franchising and business opportunity workshop.

The event will also showcase exhibits of various businesses that will cater to the needs of the OFWs which will be displayed at the Atrium of SM Cagayan de Oro City.

Other activities include poster making contest, sing and dance contest and other fun-filled entertainment for the children and families.
