A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was recently signed between Korea Labor Education Institute (KLEI), and the Philippine government agencies, DOLE and POEA. One of the provisions stated in the said MOU is the creation and promotion of labor education program for the Employment Permit System (EPS)-Korea workers.
The MOU was signed by DOLE Undersecretary Luzviminda Padilla, Baldoz, and KLEI President Han Seung Sun at the POEA office last May 2. Read more.

More jobs await qualified OFWs in Canada as the POEA informed that groups of Canadian employers are currently in the Philippines to conduct a recruitment mission. The employers in Canada who arrived in the country on May 24(Saturday) will stay in the Philippines for one week with the aim to hire more OFWs.
The POEA chief added, ” For the past years, employers from Saskatchewan have been conducting recruitment missions here and hiring Filipino welders, butchers, food handlers and other skilled workers. The Canadian employers, mostly from the cities of Regina and Saskatoon, will personally interview the applicants pre-selected by the licensed recruitment agencies. Read more.

As posted in the DFA website, the Philippine Embassy in Korea issued a warning against agencies that serves as a medium for Filipinas who wants to go to Korea as mail order brides. Luis T. Cruz, Philippine Ambassador to South Korea, restates this warning as the government of the said country tightens its rules against interracial matchmaking agencies that refuse to comply with local laws and use deceiving advertising. The Department for Foreign Affairs (DFA) is now issuing machine-readable passport to applicants. In contrast with the old passport, the new one is maroon-colored with a magnetic strip. Important information about the passport holder as well as security features are embedded in the magnetic strip that can be seen in the first page of the document. Read more.
