K-Line Ship Management Co. Ltd., a Japanese shipping line is set to acquire 300 new vessels in the next four yeas (2008 to 2011) as part of the company’s fleet expansion. Shuichiro Maeda, president of K-Line said that they are planning to hire 7,000 Filipino seafarers. The official said that they prefer Filipinos because they’ve been working with them for the longest time and having a pure Filipino crew onboard a vessel is much easier to manage.
